Local Entrepreneurs: Benefits You and the Community

In previous essays, I have mentioned benefits for local communities to support local businesses. This article gives even more reasons for supporting small businesses. Going small improves health, improves local economy, lets the customer know the people behind the product, keeps the community unique, and finally there is better customer service overall. All of these reasons are very convincing.

My final paper is all about convincing the average consumer to shop small. I plan on using this as a way of giving examples of close to home feelings. This article even convinced myself to shop small even more than I already do.

  1. I like how you pointed out that local stores also promote health and not just the economy. Do you personally support buying local and if so where do you shop in Logan to buy from local producers?

  2. It will be interesting to hear about some of your solutions. Personally, I would like to buy local more but it always seems like being a college student the big chains get me in the door with lower prices.

  3. How does buying locally improve health? I understand the rest of the benefits but that one isn't clicking for me.
